At CHE Academy, we take great care in matching each athlete with the right billet family. Our structured placement process considers both player profiles and family preferences to ensure a strong, positive fit from the start.
We prioritize compatibility in personality, lifestyle, and individual needs which creates a supportive environment where both the athlete and family can thrive.
Player well-being is always at the forefront, especially when considering homes that may host more than one athlete.
Whether you’re new to billeting or experienced, our team works closely with you throughout the process to ensure a comfortable, successful placement.
BILLETING ADVISOR
Amy Saindon brings a strong background in social services to her role as Billet Manager for the CHE Academy. As a community social worker with a focus on mental health, she is passionate about supporting the overall well-being of young athletes.
Amy has previous experience working as a billet coordinator, where she developed a deep understanding of the importance of a positive and stable home environment for players living away from home. She is committed to creating supportive placements that help athletes succeed both on and off the ice.
Amy strongly believes that mental health, emotional well-being, and a sense of belonging are essential to player development. She works closely with billet families to ensure each home provides a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where players can grow, feel supported, and reach their full potential.
Amy will oversee the mental health check-ins and social wellness support for both players and billet families throughout the season. Upon arrival, each player completes a baseline mental health assessment to help identify their current well-being and any areas where support may be beneficial. This assessment is revisited mid-season and again at the end of the season to monitor progress and adjust supports as needed.
Throughout the season, Amy will be available as a consistent social wellness resource for players. Her role will include helping players stay connected beyond hockey by encouraging balance and positive outlets such as coffee meetups, yoga, walks, or community activities. This provides players with opportunities to unwind, build relationships, and openly communicate in a supportive environment. When needed, Amy will also connect players with appropriate local resources for additional support.
