CHE Academy is proud to be the newest member of the CSSHL, competing in the Eastern Division. All programs within the CSSHL are sanctioned Hockey Canada Accredited Schools, Schools with Residence, or Sanctioned by USA Hockey meeting the regulations of not only their National member, but their respective provincial, state or regional members. The objective of the league is to provide a competitive environment for young student athletes that share similar values of Sportsmanship, Citizenship, Academic Excellence and Hockey Development.

Throughout a typical season, players can expect to participate in roughly 24 CSSHL games through regular season and showcase events, as well as participation in 4-6 tournaments, and exhibition play against other Eastern Academies and U18 AAA opponents. This results in a season with 40-45 games minimum, with the focus on competing against similarly structured programs, and high-end talent, to provide the best opportunity for growth and even gameplay.

MEET MORTEN KJØLBY

Morten Kjølby will serve as the U18 Head Coach, and brings with him a strong hockey background from his various roles across the world. Morten served as Head Coach for Odense U17 and U20 in Denmark, Sollefteå HK J18 in Sweden, Club Hielo Jaca in Spain, as well as working with the Danish, Chinese and Hong Kong National Development teams. Morten has spent time in North America with the Summerland Steam of the KIJHL and Cold Lake Aeros of the CAJHL. This wide ranging experience helps Morten bring a strong understanding of different strategies across the globe, that he has used to help develop several players who have had success professionally in North America and abroad, including the NHL.

Training is scheduled for weekday afternoons to ensure focused, consistent development on the ice. The afternoon training allows the player to maximize their evenings, whether that means additional focus on recovery, academics, or spending time with friends and family. Games are predominantly held on weekends (Friday through Sunday), allowing student-athletes to prioritize academics during the week and ensuring adequate recovery time to support peak performance.

Practices will take place at the brand new Miskin Law Community Complex, where CHE Academy students will have access to an exclusive CHE Academy dressing room. Following the conclusion of the season, players will continue their training through structured on-ice sessions and performance testing. This approach equips athletes with the necessary tools and feedback to maintain progress and prepare effectively during the off-season.
